Description
TAKING STONY POINT. The true story that turned the tide against the British in the American Revolution after they sailed up the Hudson River too far towards West Point, NY. First they had to be taking Stony Point garrison and Verplanck's Point across the river. But General Washington hires one of his most daring Generals and came up with an impossible mission to fight in Hell for Washington. This is the true story of daring and courage and Patriotism that won Wayne the monkier of "mad Anthony Wayne" and made him so famous almost every state has a town of Wayne, and Batman has a Bruce Wayne. Incredibly well researhed on both sides of the pond by writer/director and history buff Kevin Hainsworth, this stirring saga is not only true, but incredibly exciting. It's a story that deserves to be told, and we wrote it when we lived fifiteen miles from the actual site in Rockland County, New York. Well after we wrote it in 1997, we developed two other stories that would becomes a trilogy of the American Revolution. GUNS & PRIVATTERS about pirates and their trophies (ships) on the Mullica River, NJ colony; THE INDIAN KING TAVERN, the state Assembly Hall where Generals of the American Revolution: Wayne, Lafayette and Pulaski meet and continued their "buddy" relationship across many years. Three Patriots from the Revolution. Each spec script can stand alone, or stand together as a whole picture of the American Revolution. In fact, director Kevin Hainsworth not only shot video at Stony Point battlefield to block out the entire battle, but also shot video in Batsto Village, NJ and at Haddonfield, NJ. Trivia fact: When writing the last two movies Kevin Hainsworth would dream that he would be a roving unit steadicam cameraman shooting footage for all three directors to use as they wished for inclusion in each movie. "This are three different movies", says writer/ director Kevin Hainsworth, "about the American Revolution. They're not the usual story of blood and guts and courage under fire. TSP is a battle, G&P is about a region in which pirates fought a village where the Rebels made guns, and TIKT is about three Generals whose became friends at the Battle of Brandywine, PA. Wayne's tenacity to the Battle of Fallen Timbers (long after our independence) was singly responsible for the freedom we enjoy today. He formed the official USA army on a September the Eleventh". THE INDIAN KING TAVERN is a more complex movie that a director like CRASH director could soar with. Perfect for Tom Hanks to produce.
