PRIEST-ASTRONOMERS

Since everything was about growing crops, the sun and when to grow, Priest Astronomers observed the skies and the planets. They had some Math and calendars to mark time to help seasonal anticipation for planting. To encourage good crops they also made human sacrifices which involved rolling a person into a ball and rolling them down those high steps.

MAYAN CALENDAR

Mayans were "obsessed" by time cycles to help growing crops during the year. They observed both the moon cycle and the Venus cycle.

Of course, there's no way to know exactly what a society long ago was like. We know from discoveries made in various ceremonial areas like the Plaza of the Jaguars, or the Crystal Skulls found at Lubaantun. Of course what we didn't find we don't know about.
